Hater, L'Olympic Café

Tourné le 31 janvier 2018 • L'Olympic Café, Paris
For their first concert in Paris, the small club L'Olympic Café was well filled with an audience conquered by the indie rock music of Hater.

A fairly recent band on the Swedish musical scene, Hater is an alternative rock quatuor from Malmö. Made up of Adam Agace, Måns Leonartsson, Lukas Thomasson and led by frontwoman Caroline Landahl, the band describes itself as a well-dosed blend of groups such as The Pretenders, The Radio Dept and Alvvays. Already having released one album and two EPs, Hater had a quite rapid ascension, being officially formed barely a year ago. They could also play several concerts throughout the entire Europe already, notably as openers for one of their inspirations, The Radio Dept.

In 2017, they have published a full-length album, You Tried, as well as an EP, Red Blinders. The first, released in early 2017 under the Fire Records label, is composed of nine songs, but each of them has a particular charm that makes every composition of this band unique. The latter, once again brought by Fire Records, is a four songs collection that sounds slightly more pop than the preceding record, but also seems to display a highest level of precision and freedom in the band’s creations. With every track comfortably led by Caroline’s vocals, Hater seems to have found through this EP a winning recipe that will undoubtedly allow them to become one of the bands to watch for the year 2018.
